There were signs on Sunday that the results of the Presidential and
National Assembly elections might drag till Monday in Benue State.
Findings showed that apart from the slow collation process, voting
was still in progress in areas that could not vote on Saturday due to
hitches. In Zone ‘C’ for instance, where the Senate President, David Mark, of the Peoples Democratic Party hails from, only three out of the nine local government areas have been collated fully.
Unconfirmed results indicate that so far, President Goodluck Jonathan and Mark are leading in the zone.
In Zone ‘B’, where the Senate Minority Leader, George Akume, comes from, the All Progressives Congress is leading in the seven local government areas with a clear margin, though not all of them have been officially verified.
In Makurdi Local Government Area, and state capital, where there are 11 wards, only four have been verified.
However, in Zone ‘A’ where the state Governor, Mr. Gabriel Suswam, and Senator Barnabas Gemade, are contesting the senate seat, only one local government area out of seven have been collated.
However, the two parties are fighting head-to-head in the zone.
